Joseph Cheung, CISSP, CCISO | CASP+ | SEC+ | CDPSE

Joseph Cheung has served in multiple engineering and senior management roles to include Lead Engineer, Principal Engineer and even Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) within both DoD and commercial industries. His work includes regularly partnering with inter-departmental units to include Legal and Compliance to ensure that all needs of the business have buy-in from all departments.

Joseph started his professional career in the Department of Defense (DoD) where he supported offensive and defensive cyber operations and research. In his time in DoD, he has supported multiple Air Force, Space Force, Army, and Marine Corp programs. Most recently, he has served as Lead Engineer on various components of an Air Force and Space Force network. He has also supported other governmental agencies in their network security architectural redesigns to include the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). With his deep background in cyber, network, and systems engineering, he has directly contributed to programmatic wins in excess of $25 million dollars. Joseph has a unique understanding of the challenges that face the DoD and the United States. By leveraging his strong cyber systems and risk management background, he has successfully introduced commercial and industry standard methodologies and technologies into multiple government and DoD environments.

In addition to his DoD background, Joseph also has strong commercial engineering and leadership experience, having worked for Fortune 500 companies to include Charter Spectrum Communications as well as L3Harris Technologies. He has also served as the CISO of a Connecticut-based financial technology firm. In many of his commercial roles, Joseph was responsible for combining security engineering, DevOps, secure Software Development Life Cycles (SDLC), and risk management into deployable solutions for his customers.

Joseph has also founded several award-winning companies to include Toggle Industries LLC and ArcLight6 Consulting LLC. Toggle is a cybersecurity firm that specializes in aiding small to mid-size businesses understand, tackle, and manage their cybersecurity posture and risk. ArcLight6 is an engineering consulting firm that provides cyber, network, and systems engineering support to mid-size to multi-national corporations.

Joseph is highly respected within both commercial and DoD for his unique and sometimes disruptively innovative engineering approach. He has been featured on multiple podcasts, recognized on the state-level for contributions to the advancement of cyber engineering, and has even sat on various technology boards within Colorado and abroad. He is an Executive member of ISSA and hold several highly sought-after industry certifications to include the (ISC)2 CISSP.

Joseph is also an Adjunct Professor of Cybersecurity at Denver University’s Sturm College of Law.
