Dr. Cragin Shelton worked in the national security arena for over 45 years, the last 20 in information security. Educated as a scientist and trained in military intelligence and financial management, he worked with U.S. government information systems from 1984 to 2018. As a systems security engineer his work focuses on applying the principles of systems engineering to information security, with particular attention to the human factors of security. Dr. Shelton earned degrees in chemistry, information systems, and cybersecurity. Formally retired (a polite euphemism for unemployed) he remains actively engaged through academic and professional society activities. A Senior Member of ISSA and IEEE, he is also a member of INCOSE and the Computer Society.
