2019 ISSA Board of Directors Call for Nominations

Newly Appointed Nominations/Election Committee Chair, Patricia (Gilmore) Myers, ISSA Past President, Announces the Call for Nominations for the 2019 ISSA Board of Director’s Election

Service on the International Board of Directors gives you the opportunity to guide the direction of ISSA, raise the professionalism and influence of security practitioners, shape the destiny of the cyber security profession, and enhance your personal leadership skills.

Vice President – [3-year term]

The Vice President shall assist the President and shall assume the duties of the President in his/her absence or inability and perform such other duties as may be authorized and delegated by the Board of Directors.

Secretary/Chief Operations Officer – [Special 2-year term]

The Director of Operations oversees and coordinates the activities of the various organization entities, especially the committees. This director is also responsible for monitoring the activity of headquarters’ staff for compliance to direction by the Board of Directors.

Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer - [3-year term]

The Treasurer shall be the chief financial officer of the Association. The Treasurer shall be responsible for the performance of all duties incident to the office of Treasurer and such other duties as may be authorized and delegated by the Board of Directors.

Directors – [4 open seats; 3 seats for 3-year terms and 1 seat for a special 2-year term]

Of the top 4 vote-getters for Director, the candidate having the least votes among them will have the 2-year term.

Eligibility

Effective with this year's elections (per the Bylaws), all candidates for the role of Director must be an experienced chapter leader, ISSA Fellow, or have comparable experience. All candidates for the role of Officer (President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer) must have previously served a full term as an Officer or Director on the ISSA International Board of Directors.

All candidates and campaign activities must follow the election guidelines.

Information on the responsibilities of the International Board of Directors can also be found in Article VI of the ISSA By-Laws.

Nomination

All Nominations must be received by 11:59 p.m. US Eastern Daylight Time on May 21, 2019.

Candidates may be nominated by their chapters or sitting members of the International Board.

At-Large members may submit a petition signed by a minimum of 25 members in good standing in lieu of a chapter nomination.

The following documents must be submitted by each nominee prior to the nomination deadline:

  • Nominee biography*
  • Statement of goals to achieve in the position
  • Statement of Commitment
  • Photo, 3”H x 4”W, 300 dpi, jpg or gif only

*Each candidate will be limited to one column space in the ISSA Journal, typically between 375 and 400 words, for their biography and statement of goals.

Identical biographies, goals and photos will be published in all media.
