Statement of Goals:

Greetings ISSA Members! I am asking for your support in my candidacy for Vice President, and I would like to share with you a few of my goals for our association.

One of my goals is for ISSA International to be more unified, rather than a collection of individual chapters working independently to succeed. One of the reasons I got involved in the Chapter Presidents Advisory Council (CPAC) was the opportunity to help build a bridge between the chapters and the association's leadership, enabling the chapters' voices to be heard and providing a conduit in both directions. I also believe a united voice from all the chapters will carry more weight on issues, both internally and externally, and I believe each chapter can be stronger when we have the opportunity to lean on others and the association when needed. One of the Vice President's responsibilities is to lead the CPAC. Having been a CPAC representative from the beginning, I have an excellent understanding of how this council works and what it can be.

Secondly, I would like to see ISSA build and maintain strong relationships with other security-related organizations. This type of outreach and partnership program can benefit the associations involved as well as the members, broadening our personal professional networks, increasing our association’s profile and presence, and other synergies. While I was chapter president, I started a similar program that remains strong and successful, the chapter now having partnerships with groups like ISACA, InfraGard, OWASP, CCS and ISE, and I would work to pursue similar relationships for ISSA at the international level.

Another strong objective would be to grow the benefits of ISSA membership. Today, we do have some global benefits, and chapters have occasionally established local benefits. I would like to see a stronger member benefits program offered by ISSA. In addition to being a positive thing for current members, increased benefits can help chapters with recruitment and retention of new members. Having worked in other associations to build benefits into their membership programs, I believe this would be a strong plus for ISSA that I could bring to the table.

I look forward to working with you all, and thank you for your consideration.
