Kevin Spease

Kevin has been an ISSA member since 2005. He has served Sacramento Valley as President and Vice President, Utah as Vendor Relations Manager, and International Education Advisory Council – Academic Partnerships as Subcommittee Leader. In addition, he has been a member of the Connect Council and International Election Committee. He represented Sacramento Valley as an advisor to the California State University Sacramento Information Security Leadership Academy and Utah as an advisor to the Weber State University Industry Advisory Committee. Kevin has presented at chapter congress, officer training, webinars and chapter meetings.

Kevin is responsible for the evolution and management of web application security in the Health Net Web Center of Excellence. In addition to securing web-based military environmental and logistics applications, he has significant experience securing Air Force strategic and Army tactical weapons systems. He lived in the United Kingdom and Germany for eight years. He served in Kuwait and traveled extensively in Europe. Kevin instructs at ITT-Technical Institute in the Information System Security program. He earned an MBA from University of Phoenix and is a CISSP-ISSEP.

Statement of Goals

As an International Member, you should expect an association that provides opportunities to improve your skills, asserts a positive influence internationally, develops and mentors the next generation of information security professionals across the globe, and works to resolve the information security issues that concern us.

If elected as Chief Financial Officer / Treasurer, my goals are to...

...influence prudent use of funds in support of international membership interestsExpect negotiated discounts for conferences and training, professional representation of our membership in international forums, and collaborative industry improvement opportunities with governments, universities and other professional organizations.

...ensure financial needs of the international membership are represented. Expect efficient disbursement of chapter dues and sensitivity to foreign currency differences as they relate to membership dues, training and conferences.

...procure technologies to reduce chapter administration workload globally. Expect effective use of international funds to reduce chapter administration tasks such as event management and web conferencing.

...communicate how your investment is spent and regularly solicit your feedbackExpect transparent financial reporting and the opportunity to provide feedback if the financial interests of the international membership are not satisfied.

I look forward to the opportunity to exceed expectations and I know that, internationally, we can discover and pursue opportunities to improve our association, our profession, and, in turn, make our world more secure.
