As we progress in our Information Security career, there are several fundamental principles we must master to go from entry-level to a leadership role. Understanding the technical side of security is critical – however we must also understand where our business is going and how information security can help build that solid, secure foundation upon which the business can grow. And to accomplish this goal, we must transcend the IT side, build relationships and truly become a business leader. Randall Frietzsche will discuss how his career progressed from the helpdesk to the office of the CISO, and the vital skills and knowledge he has learned along the way.

Randall Frietzsche – Information Security Officer (CISO), QualChoice Health Plans, a division of Catholic Health Initiatives

Ramdall is an ISSA Fellow and was the President of the ISSA Kentuckiana Chapter for eight years. During that time, he also chaired the Louisville Metro InfoSec Conference for 5 years. Randall is an Adjunct Professor for Information Security at Ivy Tech State College in Indiana. Randall holds a Master of Science in Information Security and Assurance, the CISSP, C|EH, C|HFI, and 21 other technical and industry certifications. Randall is also active in the Infosec community – starting a role on the Denver ISSA board and participating on the planning committee for the Rocky Mountain Information Security Conference. Randall is also active with ISSA International, participating on the Cybersecurity Career Lifecycle initiative, the ISSA Election Committee, and managing the ISSA Fellow and ISSA Senior Member LinkedIN groups.
