Overview
GDPR became one of the first forcing functions to get teams to implement baseline engineering policies within their organization(s), but we continue to see organizations paying fines. Validating external claims made by organizations and helping to evolve policies requires a robust cultural shift. In this talk we'll discuss examples of privacy policy converted to engineering verification scenarios to help engineers or privacy champions embed privacy policy verification(s) within product cycles so policies stay current.

Loretta Dennison – Privacy Attorney
Loretta has a Master’s Degree in Technology Management from Georgetown University.  Throughout her career she has been involved in the handling of information whether as a communications executive in radio, television, or domestic syndication. In her current role, Loretta serves as a Privacy Attorney where she collaborates with business units at the Federal level to ensure the successful integration of privacy considerations in the appropriate business operations and IT systems. In addition to being an ISSA Privacy Sig Volunteer, Loretta is on the Board of Directors of the ISSA National Capital Chapter. Â

Vandana Padmanabhan
Vandana has been a tech professional for the past 15+ years and a privacy professional for the past 10 years. She started her journey in software engineering at Tellme/Microsoft before pivoting into the privacy engineering domain. She is passionate about preventative privacy solutions and ideating from a grass-roots level. She has led “shift-to-left” transformations of privacy programs to solve key challenges in data privacy such as data minimization, user choice, and data protection. She actively volunteers on the Risks & Controls Committee at the Institute of Operational Privacy Design. Outside of work, she enjoys outdoor activities, arts and crafts, and frequenting local coffee shops.
