One Woman’s Answer to the Cybersecurity Talent Shortage


Presented by Ms. Maryam Rahmani, Graduate Student at University of Maryland University College

One-half of the United States Workforce is comprised of women, but women represent less than 11 percent of the Cybersecurity industry. By working together, we can address this gender imbalance. Cybersecurity Workforce Diversity is a Critical National Security & Policy Issue

In this talk, Maryam shares her personal journey from corporate America to the graduate school in pursuit of cybersecurity knowledge. She discusses the United States’ dependence on its information systems and the importance of keeping the nation’s cyber infrastructure secure. Maryam urges others especially her fellow female technologists to answer the call for a diverse cyber workforce.

Maryam Rahmani is a mid-career technologist with over 23 years of technology sales experience focused on delivering technology solutions to Fortune 500 companies. Maryam is a graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in Electrical Engineering. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Cybersecurity Policy at University of Maryland University College.
