Web 2.0 applications use newer technology enablers on the browsers with plug-ins like Adobe Flash/Flex, Microsoft's Silverlight and rich back-end integration that goes beyond a dedicated database to distributed Mashups and REST services. Deployment models are also changing with emergence of SaaS (Software as a Service), Cloud Computing, etc.
