Cybersecurity has become a tangled web of overlapping global cybersecurity and privacy regimes that are requiring companies to rethink internal structures and those within the company who have to provide cybersecurity to navigate a complicated path. Geopolitical risks are changing the landscape and agreements like Safe Harbor 2.0 or the Privacy Shield, the new EU NIS Directive, the EU General Data Protection Regulation and G7 and G20 agreements have impacts on what companies need to be doing.

Cybersecurity has become a tangled web of overlapping global cybersecurity and privacy regimes that are requiring companies to rethink internal structures and those within the company who have to provide cybersecurity to navigate a complicated path. Geopolitical risks are changing the landscape and agreements like Safe Harbor 2.0 or the Privacy Shield, the new EU NIS Directive, the EU General Data Protection Regulation and G7 and G20 agreements have impacts on what companies need to be doing and the resources they will need to manage these changes.
Norma Krayem, Sr. Policy Advisor & Co-Chair, Cybersecurity & Privacy, Holland & Knight brings extensive experience in the private and public sectors, from homeland security and defense to critical infrastructure and cyber risk, Norma Krayem’s scope on the cyber geopolitical landscape is broad-based and she will discuss these issues in greater detail.

Norma Krayem serves as Senior Policy Advisor and Co-Chair of the Holland & Knight, Cybersecurity and Privacy Team. She has a distinguished Washington, D.C., career that spans more than 20 years, holding executive positions in the U.S. Departments of State, Commerce and Transportation focusing on national and international issues. Ms. Krayem focuses her practice on the impacts of cyber risks and privacy issues on critical infrastructure, helping clients forecast and understand how cybersecurity and privacy risks impact their core business models from a policy, regulatory, funding and compliance perspective. She specializes in and works extensively with Fortune 500 clients in key sectors including banking and financial services, energy, defense, health, communications, transportation (aviation/airports, shipping ports, automotive, etc.), chemicals, insurance, manufacturing to name a few. She has extensive international experience and specializes in helping clients understand and compare the differences in regulatory regimes with countries around the world, including the G7 and G20 as well as other international trade arenas. She works closely with the Executive Branch, Congress, state and local governments as well as international officials on a host of issues. She is a frequently called on by the media to discuss the impacts of these issues and how to manage the various policy, legislative and regulatory impacts on companies. She is a frequent speaker to groups both in the U.S. and around the world on these issues, including recent speeches in Brussels, Belgium to speak at a U.S.-EU Conference on cybersecurity and data security issues as well as a NIST Framework Conference to talk about the need for global harmonization of cybersecurity policies.
