Presentation Title: "So You Want to be a Forensics Analyst"

 

Abstract:  

High level outline / learning objectives:
- A brief background on what forensics is
- What life is like as a forensics analyst (the good, the bad, the ugly). 
- Describe any pre-requisites for going into forensics - technical skills and experience in particular, but also any soft skills.
- Describe strategies for acquiring those skills for those who don’t already have them.
- Are certifications important, and if so, which ones, and how to get them.
- Areas of specialization in forensics.

 

Speaker Bio:

Charles Kelly retired as Chief Information Security Officer in 2013 after a career spanning thirty years at SAS Institute, Inc. Charles built SAS' information security program from the ground up, enabling SAS to adjust their IT operations to fast paced changes from regulations and cloud services. In 2014 Charles started a new company, Keystone Forensic Investigations, LLC, to capitalize on his passion for digital investigations that began while at SAS. Charles now provides forensic investigative services in digital media, forensic accounting, and fraud examination. Charles has a Bachelor of Science in Forestry, and Master of Science in Forest Genetics, and a Master of Science in Forensic Accounting. Charles is also an EnCase Certified Forensic Examiner, and a Certified Fraud Examiner.

Speaker Bio:

Carl Hill had a successful 25+ year career with IBM that produced a successful track record and recognition including 2 IBM President’s Award for innovation and execution. 
 
Mr. Hill is the President of the BDPA Triangle and a Board Member of the United Minority Contractors of North Carolina.  
He graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Economics.
  

Abstract:

"The Cyber Threat Landscape - What Should You Know?"

He has presented this topic at several National Technology Conferences and will highlight the growing cyber threat landscape, recent breaches, future vulnerabilities, the weakest links and why all size organizations should consider getting buy-in from these two groups to minimize their cyber risks.   He will also discuss "Why Diversity Matters in IT and How You Can Help"
