Web Conference Overview:
Last year everyone was
worried about the Cloud and Consumerization. The cloud sort of took off,
after we figured it out, but consumerization (aka Bring Your Own Device – BYOD)
went wild. We saw the expansion of BYOD (really, BYO computer) to BYOC (BYO communications), to BYOI (identity), and BYOS
(software). As we dealt with issues of corporate data and personal data
on the same device last year, we never even thought about communication,
identity, or software as issues.
But now it is all about bringing your own "stuff” (BYOS).
Furthermore, as BYOS grows exponentially, boundaries become blurred. How
will we be able to separate corporate from personal? What happens when
you leave the company? Who owns the phone number that was used for work,
or the email address you used to post for social media, or even the software
you used to perform your job? These issues are just the tip of the
iceberg in the BYOS world.
