Raleigh ISSA October Meeting & Back to Basics

BACK-TO-BASICS + CHAPTER MEETING This meeting is a double-hitter with the regular monthly meeting, presentation and dinner PRECEDED by a Back-to-Basics class. This month is "Back to Basics with Cisco ISE". When you register for the meeting, you'll be asked to choose what all you're attending: - 5-6pm, Back to Basics - 6-8:30pm, Chapter Meeting The Back-to-Basics mini-training and the meeting are FREE for members. Guests pay just $10 and can attend either, or both sessions.

Raleigh ISSA October Meeting & Back to Basics
NOTE this meeting is a little different- this event has two parts:
a) 5:00-6:00PM- Back-to-Basics mini-class
b) 6:00-8:30PM- Chapter Meeting


This class covers the intro to the Cisco ISE Product. This lesson provides an overview of the Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) platform. Cisco ISE is a key element of the Cisco TrustSec architecture. You will learn about Cisco’s TrustSec components and the different functions and personas associated with the Cisco ISE product. Technologies such as Identity Sources, 802.1X, Supplicants, MAC Authentication Bypass, and CentralizedWeb Authentication will be introduced. RADIUS based Change of Authorization (CoA) and the role of ISE in utilizing this protocol will be examined; including URL redirect, VLAN assignment, Downloadable ACLs, and Security Group Access Control (SGA). An assortment of deployment options will be covered to provide for a variety of network scenarios; supported platforms, X.509 certificates, Network Time Protocol (NTP) and verification of ISE in a distributed environment will be presented.

DESCRIPTION: Explore the Network Access Devices (NADs) supported by Cisco ISE and take a deeper look at 802.1X. Understand the differences between Monitor Mode, Low Impact Mode, and Closed Mode implementations of the 802.1X protocol. Go over use cases for each of the 802.1X Host Modes including: Single Host, Multiple Host, Multiple Domain Authentication (MDA), and Multiple Authentication. Cover 802.1X configuration options for Ethernet Switches and Wireless LAN Controllers, as well as the popular Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) supplicants. Review the Cisco ISE Authentication and Authorization process and watch a live demo of basic access with both "Hard Wired” Ethernet 802.3 and Wireless 802.11 supplicants.
