An independent research survey aimed at understanding how information security professionals are managing their careers, planning for their futures, acquiring information, approaching certification and training, and achieving job satisfaction was recently launched. This survey is the first of its kind, and is being distributed by the ISSA and other information security industry associations. The results of the survey will be shared in the Spring of 2009, in the form of presentations, white papers, and articles. The survey was created by Lee Kushner and Mike Murray, and was inspired by the response to their conference presentations on career management and career development. Dr. Max Kilger, a Senior Advisor to the Honeynet Project, served as an advisor. The survey is independent and without sponsorship, and anyone who currently has a career as an information security professional is encouraged to participate.
More information on the survey can be found at www.infosecleaders.com. The survey is hosted by Survey Monkey and can be found at www.infosecleaders.com/survey.

We are pleased that the 2008 Annual Membership Meeting will be sponsored by Google Apps Security and Compliance. Powered by Postini, Google Apps is available to businesses and organizations that want to make their existing email infrastructures more secure, compliant, and productive. The products secure your email from messaging threats, archive messages with discovery capabilities, as well as secure your web browsing and encrypt your sensitive email. As a service, there is nothing to install or maintain, so you can start small and implement additional services as your requirements grow. To learn more visit Google Apps Security and Compliance at www.google.com/a/security.
International's Annual Meeting will be held in conjunction with the Colorado Springs Chapter's 7th Annual Fall Information Security Conference. Both the Fall Conference and the Annual Meeting will be at Colorado Technical University. The conference is free and has been extended to 2 days for the first time.
For more information or to register for the Fall Conference, please contact Mark Spencer, Colorado Springs Chapter President at or visit the chapter's website, http://www.issa-cos.org/
Take time to recognize the outstanding individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to ISSA and the information security profession over the past year.
Acknowledge a fellow member of your chapter. Winners will be honored at the Annual Awards Ceremony as guests of ISSA International. In recognition of their efforts recipients will also receive an award icon for use on business cards and in correspondence.
Who would you choose for the following awards?
ISSA Hall of Fame for lifetime achievement and advancement of the profession.
Honor Roll for sustained meritorious conduct and advancement of ISSA.
Outstanding Chapter of the Year recognizes a chapter's ability to serve ISSA's mission and chapter members. Chapters must self-nominate to receive this award. Awards will be given in three categories for 2008:

Security Professional of the Year recognizes a member's contribution to ISSA.
Outstanding Organization of the Year recognizes an organization's contribution to ISSA.
Although the formal nomination must be submitted by your chapter president or a sitting member of the ISSA International Board of Directors, you can help by suggesting potential candidates and highlighting their accomplishments.
