Vote Now for the ISSA International Board of Directors

The polls are now open to cast your ballot for the International Board President and five Directors. Ballots were sent to eligible voters on July 7 and must be received by August 5 at midnight US Pacific Time.

This election replaces the vote originally scheduled for June. If you voted between June 1-19, you will need to vote again. If you have not previously voted, we encourage you to do so.

General, CISO Executive, Lifetime and assigned Corporate and Government Organizational members who were eligible to vote in the June election will be entitled to participate in the new vote. Voters must have been members in good standing as of May 31, 2008. Student and temporary members of any kind (Trial and CISO Trial) are not voting members of the organization. Unassigned organizational memberships may not be voted.

If you have questions regarding voting, eligibility or membership accounts, please send email to or call 866- 349-5818 within the USA, 206 388-4584 internationally, and dial extension 103 to speak with Elections Support.

To learn more about the candidates' profiles and goals, please visit https://www.issa.org/2008candidates.html.

Questions regarding the election may be forwarded to the Elections Committee at Election Chair at issa dot org.

Save October 2 for ISSA Annual Meeting

You will have the opportunity to meet and convey your thoughts to the ISSA International President, officers, directors and Chapter Presidents Advisory Council (CPAC) delegates at the ISSA Annual Meeting on October 2. The results of the International Election will be announced at that time. Board members will report to you on the year’s accomplishments and achievements and the projects and goals for the coming months.

The Annual Meeting will be held in conjunction with the Fall 2008 Security Conference sponsored by the Colorado Springs ISSA Chapter at Colorado Technical University in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA.

Share Your Opinions on Professional Ethics

The July 2008 ISSA Journal theme is Professional Ethics, and in addition to the Ethics and Privacy column that is published periodically, the ISSA Ethics Committee is launching a survey, http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=fKbGAzKjlKLDoUVmidJ65w_3d_3d, to gather input and feedback from our members. Please share your thoughts and ideas regarding Professional Ethics in our industry, the effectiveness of the ISSA Ethics Committee, and any pertinent examples of situations and resolutions where ethics influenced the outcome.

Survey results will be compiled during September, and aggregated results will be shared in the October ISSA Journal - no names will be used without express permission. Although the ISSA Ethics Committee is always open to your invaluable input and feedback, take this opportunity to share your thoughts, and help to shape the focus and activities of this dedicated group of members to reflect our association’s stance on Professional Ethics as the Voice of Information Security!

The survey will remain open until August 15, 2008.

David Garcia to Represent the US Central Region

Following a run-off election, ISSA International President Howard A. Schmidt has announced that David Garcia, Central Ohio Chapter, will join Rick Ensenbach, Minnesota Chapter, in representing the US Central Region on the Chapter Presidents Advisory Council (CPAC).

The role of the CPAC delegate is to serve as an added resource for active and developing chapters, advise the International Board on regional issues, challenges and obstacles, and facilitate communication between chapters and the Board.
