ISSA Annual Meeting, CISO Forum and Awards

The ISSA will be holding its annual meeting and presenting our annual awards in conjunction with our next CISO Executive Membership Forum on September 21-22 at the W Hotel in San Francisco. The ISSA will be presenting awards for Chapter of the Year and Communications Program of the Year. We will also be presenting individual awards for the Security Professional of the Year, ISSA Honor Roll and ISSA Hall of Fame. The Awards Presentation and Annual Meeting will be conducted on the afternoon of the 22nd after the CISO Forum has been completed. If you have items for business for the ISSA Annual Meeting, please submit them to the Executive Director via email at execdir@issa.org

The CISO Executive Membership Forum in San Francisco will feature world class caliber speakers addressing the theme of Building a Global Information Security Program. Sessions will be held on September 22nd, please go to ciso.issa.org for more details.

ISSA HQ Transition Tidbits

We have said it many times, but we again want to thank all of the ISSA members for both your patience and helpful advice as we build a new headquarters function. We like to joke about this "character building" experience, but in fact a lot of great things are happening that are providing the foundation for a much stronger association to help our members reach their professional goals.

A few things we wanted to note:

  • Chapter conferences. Our new team publishing the Journal and redesigning the ISSA website want to build a comprehensive event calendar to get the word out about chapter events as well as other industry conferences that are of benefit to ISSA members. Please take the time to tell us about events you are aware of that deserve organization-wide promotion.
  • Chapter lists. Chapter officers can now download up to Date member lists at chapters.issa.org.
  • Renewal gifts. A few of you who have recently renewed your membership with the ISSA have been inquiring about your renewal gift. We do not have access to the inventory of the old gifts and are reordering them. Hang tight, and we will get them out soon!
  • Starting a chapter. If you have ever considered starting a new ISSA chapter, now is the time to put those idle thoughts into action. We will soon be announcing some industry help we are getting to help promote ISSA development in areas we currently do not have a strong presence. Send us a message if you are interested in starting a chapter.

Volunteers for association management software implementation. We would like to have a couple more volunteers to help in our project to implement our new association management software. We are particularly interested in expertise in defining streamlined processes for HQ-Chapter communications, data transfer, dues reimbursement and related functionality. Please contact the Executive Director via email at execdir@issa.org if you are interested.
